Every year all over the world retreats and conventions are held by local schools, to bring together students at the local, regional or national level. Retreats may be day or weekend events that are centered around esoteric exercises and practices.

Conventions, on the other hand, are more lecture-oriented and usually involve the participation and support of students from that country and often times neighbouring countries. Retreats and conventions, usually focus thesir lectures and/or practices around a particular theme, allowing students and instructors to explore certain aspects of the esoteric teachings more specifically.
